On 25 April 2015, Nepal was struck by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that decimated rural villages from the epicentre of the Gorkha District and outward. The earthquakekilled nearly 9,000 people and injured over 22,000. It became one of the worst recorded natural disasters of the last century that Nepal had ever experienced.

When members of Colchester Nepalese Society (CNS) received the terrible news of destruction from various news outlets in the UK, an effort was executed organising a relief effort. CNS is primarily comprised of retired Gurkhas and their families who have settled in the UK.

Press Release - Press Release

Despite worst weather we did managed to conduct our Press Release and Brief today at the auditorium at First Site.

I believe the Press Release Brief Day went well. I like to thank everyone who turned up today at First Site for their hard work, dedication and commitment for the day.

Without your input it would not have been as successful as it has been and you must all take credit.

I am not pinpointing to each individuals and if I miss one of you and you may not be happy therefore sending a thank you in mass. I hope you would not mind.

I believe our guests were happy and Sir Bob’s remarks at the end made our day.

The food was delicious - thank you Umesh and Deputy Food Coordinators and his assistants, water and juices provided by members were plenty.

Our thanks must go to the following for sponsoring 3 cartons juices each.
