Welcome to Baby Ocean Gurung - Congratulations to Sayoj and Roshani Gurung
On Saturday, 30 May 2026, the Executives of the Colchester Nepalese Society (Chair, Vice Chair, Area Rep St Michaels Pravin Kirati, Ladies Coordinator, Cultural Coordinator, Area Reps Stanway and Highwoods Laxmi and Usha, Area Rep Gurkha Home and Asst Treasurer) had the pleasure of visiting No. 7 Temple Road, Colchester, to warmly congratulate Sayoj and his beloved wife, Roshani, on the birth of their baby boy, Ocean Gurung. Adding a delightful touch to the occasion, members of St Michael's State Mothers' Group happened to be visiting at the same time - a lovely coincidence that made the evening all the more joyful.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with wonderful warmth and generosity. Sayoj's parents, Santosh and Sumitra, had prepared a wonderful spread of food and drinks, ensuring every guest felt welcome. Their gracious hospitality set a warm and celebratory tone for the entire evening.
Our programme began around 8 pm, thoughtfully timed to allow little Master Ocean his well-deserved rest. When he awoke, the Chair addressed the gathering, speaking of the immeasurable joy a son brings into a home. He congratulated Sayoj and Roshani on their beautiful baby boy and acknowledged the wonderful gift they had given to their proud parents. As the youngest couple in our community to welcome a child, they were recognised as true role models for the current generation - a testament to love, courage, and responsibility at a young age. The Chair also shared a warm and light-hearted note: that with one more child, they will both blossom beautifully into their late thirties.
The Chair then invited the Vice Chair to present a bouquet to the proud mother and a congratulatory card to the proud father. In keeping with our cherished cultural tradition, khadas were presented to Ocean, Sayoj, Roshani, and the proud grandparents, Santosh and Sumitra - a symbol of our sincere blessings and goodwill.
The grandparents prepared excellent messing, and we departed No. 7 Temple Road at approximately 9:30 pm, carrying with us the warmth of a truly memorable occasion.
Welcome to the world, baby Ocean Gurung. May your life be filled with happiness, good health, and boundless possibilities. We wish you and your wonderful family every joy and blessing in the years ahead.
