On Saturday, 14 February, members of the CNS Executive Committee visited the family of Amar Limbu at their residence in Colchester.
Following the funeral of their beloved daughter, Bimla, in Colchester last year, Amar and his family travelled to Nepal to complete one of the most important Limbu rituals. After fulfilling these sacred rites, they recently returned to Colchester.
According to CNS tradition, when a grieving family returns from Nepal after performing such rituals, the Executive Committee visits them at home to formally welcome them back and to offer comfort and solidarity. As part of this meaningful tradition, a Rupa is placed around their necks. This symbolic act represents the belief that the souls of the living, which may have spiritually followed the deceased, are called back and restored.
Before the presentation, the Chair spoke about the profound loss of Bimla and the deep impact it has had on the family, something we all recognise and share in sorrow. The Chair reminded the family that, despite such heartbreaking circumstances, life must continue. By cherishing and honouring Bimla’s memories, we allow her spirit to live on peacefully in eternal rest among the angels. The Chair encouraged the family to move forward with strength, keeping her love and memory alive in their daily lives.
The Vice Chair presented Mrs Amar with a flower and a condolence card and gently placed the Rupa around her neck as a blessing. The Chair then placed the Rupa around Amar’s neck, also offering prayers and blessings for strength, healing, and peace.
