Dear all, What a fantastic dinner night we had yesterday which the committee organised for the outstanding community members to enjoy and experience a proper dinner night. It has been very well supported by the Colchester Pipes and Drums with their outstanding musical performance. Those who attended the dinner yesterday must have enjoyed the evening and those who were unable to attend there is always next time. Our members are now arriving in British time and Nepali time is the things of the past. We must continue to change with time and I am so grateful that you are all adhering to it. Well done everyone!!! Every successful event has its silver lining and they are the Committee members. Without the committee member’s dedication and commitment the dinner night would not have been as successful as it has been for which I like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank the following: Arjun Sunuwar Secretary Astha Sherchan Treasurer Kamala Khatri Ladies Coordinator Kul Prasad Limbu Beverages Coordinator Area Reps Bhel Birkata St Michael Area Rep Mina Gauchan and Babita Sewa Gurdon Road Area Rep Dhan Bahadur Bhujuwar and Yashoda Shrestha New Town Area Rep Jita Rai and Usha Gurung Highwoods and Greenstead Area Rep Surya Bahadur Gurung and Karna Bahadur Rana from Gurkha Home Dambar Limbu Food Coordinator Mitra Gurung Culture Coordinator Mahesh Gurung Bar Manager The following members have decorated TLA main hall for the dinner night. The silver and statues were brought by the Chair, Deeya Pun daughter of Advisor Umesh Pun MVO and Jita Rai, candle bras and candles were brought by Quayside Gurkha Bar, table cloths and napkins were supplied by a contractor through Chitraj Limbu Quayside Gurkha Bar. Secretary Kul Prasad Limbu Beverages Coordinator setting up drinks stand and help as required. The starter provided by Quayside Gurkha Bar and Restaurant was first class, almost juice less goat and chicken dishes were very tasty and crunchy dessert was the highlight of the evening. Such an excellent menu was marred by lack of time appreciation and lack of rice which held our programme quite significantly but with our excellent members’ abilities the held up was managed by outgoing Treasurer Kiran Gurung, Udek Gurung’s Gurkhali Thado Bhaka song, outgoing Secretary Dilip Mohora’s poems, Rosy Limbu’s excellent poem and an excellent song sang by Advisor Chitra Raj Limbu. The Quayside Gurkha Bar and Restaurant staff played a significant role delivering food on the table to every individual this could have been easier if Quayside Gurkha Bar management team have supplied as agreed ten staff (two staff in each of the top table and four wings). Mahesh Gurung the Bar Manager played an excellent role acting as Bar Manager making sure drinks were enough to members specially wine and juice as well as delivering food to every individual thus making life easier for Quayside Gurkha Bar staff. Mahesh ensured that a glass of whiskey is spared for the Drum Major and port was enough for members for the toasts. All the programme went as per plan but delayed by lack of time appreciation and rice shortages from Quayside Gurkha Bar and otherwise it was an outstanding event. We have managed to offer a toast to her Majesty the Queen, the Ladies of the Society and the guests. Finally the Chair expressed his appreciation to the Pipes and Drums for their musical performance, Quayside Gurkha Bar for their excellent food, Mahesh Gurung for his superb management of drinks as well as assisting Quayside Gurkha Bar staff and all the committee members for their dedication and commitment. The chair finally expressed his thanks to the members of the the community for their participation. Well done everyone!!! Udai B Gurung MBE Chair/Trustee
