Dear Members,
Captain (Ret'd), Umesh Kumar Pun MVO, was selected by the BBC and represented the Gurkhas for the late Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II's 70 years of reign at the Festival of Remembrance 2022 on Saturday, 12 November at the Royal Albert Hall.
Seeing so many members of CNS attending Remembrance Day on Sunday, 13 November yesterday was so good. We had shown our solidarity and camaraderie in front of everyone. I am delighted and like to thank you all for taking part. Unfortunately, we could not enter the town hall, and I will ensure we can enter there next year.
Once the remembrance Sunday was over, we gathered at Firstsite for our community curry lunch; I am sure everyone enjoyed it so much. We must acclimate Chhatra Limbu for masterminding the lunch, assisted by Singa Bahadur Limbu, Debendra Limbu, Deuman Limbu, Debiraj Limbu, Kul Prasad Limbu and members of Gurkha Home.
The rice, salad and papadum were arranged through the curry India courtesy of Krishna Bhandari and his partner. Dhal and vegetable curry were provided by Gurkha Britannia courtesy of Advisor Umesh Kumar Pun MVO and his two brothers; Tea/coffee was provided by Advisor Umesh Kumar Pun MVO and Area Rep Gurkha Home Jas Kumari Gurung. The surplus drinks from Teej and Dashain did a superb job. Our thanks go to the Beverage coordinator Kul Prasad Limbu.
Chhatra, Singa Bahadur, Debendra Limbu, Dan Bahadur, Advisor Kiran Gurung and Area Rep Gurkha Home and her members for cleaning the pots and pans; I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Without Chhatra's efforts and the dedication of so many community members, our effort would not have been as successful as it has been. Equally, I thank the community members for attending the remembrance Sunday parade, and I appreciate it on behalf of the community.
We must be proud of everyone.
Well done.
Udai B Gurung MBE
