Dear all,
Jane Scott Moncrief who designed the Himalayan Garden at National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham has decided to donate the flowers to Gurkha related places at the end of the exhibition.
After having consultations with the Chair and Advisor Umesh Pun MVO, Jane decided to donate the flower plants to Gurkha Home.
The exhibition was on Sunday 16 June and with Jane’s instructions we collected flowers from Birmingham on Monday 17 June by Arjun Sunuwar, Karna Bahadur Rana and Sovit Gurung in a van. The flowers were placed at Highwoods Country Park temporarily and Advisor Umesh Pun MVO, Pam from Colchester in Bloom and I went to fetch them to Gurkha Home early morning on 1 July.
Jane arrived at 1030 hours and once again she designed the garden in front of Gurkha Home and planted flowers by members of Gurkha Home under the watchful eyes of Jane, Mr Mayor and Madame Mayoress also gave their hand to plant the flowers in front of Gurkha Home.
On completion of the plantation, speeches were made by the Chair, Jane Scott Moncrief and the Mayor thanking everyone for the work they put in for Himalayan Garden.
A Vegetarian curry lunch was provided by Quayside Bar and Gurkha Restaurant and everyone enjoyed the curry. I like to thank the chefs and management team for their excellent vegetarian curry.
We dispersed just before 3pm having achieved the aim of the morning.
Many thanks to everyone who turned up for the plantation.
