The help and assistance for the preparation rendered to society were immeasurable. We decorated the hall with the best stage decorations in many years.
I like to take this opportunity to thank those who were involved from the beginning until 01:30, early on 2 Oct.
Committee members:
Secretary - designing, printing tickets, liaising with Area Reps and outside agencies and sorting out last-minute hiccups. He stood very diligently and completed his tasks very successfully for the benefit of the members.
Food Coordinators - Liaising with outside caterers and bringing the best for the members. I believe they have completed it to the best of their abilities, and having spoken with the members, we found that the food was excellent and everyone enjoyed it.
Beverages Coordinator. - The Beverages coordinator, with the help of his good lady, single-handedly controlled beverages for the evening. He has made £640 profit for the CNS.
Cultural Coordinator - Negotiating with singers and local dancers and preparing them for the event. He has designed and printed (multi-purpose), including banners for the AGM at his own expense, and ran the event on the day exceptionally well along with Assistant Ladies Coordinator.
Ladies Coordinator - Her dedication to the preparation was excellent; she prepared stage decorations, purchased flowers and decorated the stage with gagris with help from the members. It was the most excellent stage I have seen in the 18 years of history of CNS.
Assistant Ladies Coordinator - She is such a versatile committee member. She knows the procedure and will never leave any stones unturned and beautifully presented the program along with the Cultural Coordinator. Everyone was so delighted to hear from her; she speaks exceptionally well.
Area Reps St Michael Mrs Bishnu Maya Limbu, Area Rep Gurdon Road Mrs Babita Sewa, Area Rep New Town Mr Dhan Bhujuwar, Area Rep Greenstead and Highwoods Mrs Usha Ghale/Gurung and Area Rep Gurkha Home Mrs Jas Kumari Gurung. They were talking with the members and attracting everyone to the Dashain celebration. They have been collaborating and summoning everyone, which made everyone turn up, and it was one of the highly attended functions.
Treasurer - Everyone enjoyed the party, but the treasurer, Area Reps, food coordinator, and secretary collected funds from the Area Reps and counted. They were also preparing to pay the caterer, hall fee for an extra 2.5 hours, staff fee, singers and dancers fees. We have managed to pay all; a total income and expenditure to follow from the treasurer.
Advisor Capt Umesh Kumar Pun MVO liaised with DJ from London and ensured that he turned up in good time and did his best for the evening. We liked the DJ’s commitment. We gave him £400 for his efforts.
Vice-Chair, other committee members and advisors - your advice and help were always immeasurable.
Caterer - I believe they did well, and I will write separately to Sita Magar in due course.
Local dancers: Anisha and Rupika did well and well done for your performances we presented them £50 each.
Singers Man Sudhan Thapa, Kalpana Sripal and Juna Shriss, we gave them £200 each to Man and Kalpana and £100 to Juna for their performances and £50 to Man for his fuel.
Dancer - We gave £110 to Sangita Gaire for her performance.
It has been an expensive Dashain celebration for CNS, paying £1,160 to the singers and dancers, including their transport and DJ. I hope you had a good time. We did it for the enjoyment of our members.
Raffle Draw: The proprietors of Dhaulagiri Store, the Gurkha Grocery and Curry India, have kindly donated as prizes £100, £75 and £51, respectively. The prizes were given to the winners of the lucky draw. There were prizes of £50 from the CNS and ten other consolation prizes, and the lucky winners took them all.
Mrs Tikisara Pun also donated £255 for her late husband's memory. May his memory remain with us forever.
The program went according to the schedule and finished at 1 am on 2 Oct. After 1 am, the DJ began his dismantling, and we left at 01:35 am on 2 Oct.
Finally, we must congratulate the members for joining the committee to celebrate the Dashain celebration; without your participation, it would not have been possible.
Finally, I like to say huge congratulations to the committee members for their selfless devotion, commitment, dedication and above all their willingness; without it, we would have been unable to provide such a vast and successful Dashain celebration.
Well done to everyone.
