The members of Colchester Nepalese Society had been invited at the Japanese Food Sharing Project sponsored by Firstsite and run by Takashi from the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation on Sunday 10 March from 11am to 2.15pm.
The team was briefed by Takashi about the requirement on its arrival and handed over pencils, rubber, large porcelain plate, paint and brushes. We then concentrated painting specially prepared plates at Firstsite. There was no art skills required. We were asked to paint things that were important and symbolic to our culture.
Our lead painter was Advisor Bal Prasad Sherchan BEM who made finishing touches of our painting.
The CNS team comprised of the Chair, Advisor Bal Prasad Sherchan BEM, Area Rep Gurkha Home Karna Bahadur Rana, Jagat Bahadur Thapa from St Michaels Area, Tek Maya Pun, Yal Maya Pun, Tom Maya Pun and Mosna Limbu from Gurkha Home and Advisor Umesh Pun MVO.
I have learnt that our team was first class painters especially the ladies and I congratulate them from the bottom of heart for making them available for the project.
We look forward to meeting again on Sunday 17 March at 1100 hours to cook and share our food with others and enjoy special Japanese Food prepared by Takashi from Sasakawa Foundation.
Glimpses of the workshop are pictured below.
