''Miss Deeya Pun, actress, adventurer and mountaineer felicitated - 17 July''

Dear All,

We had an excellent screening of Kabaddi 4 on Sunday, 17 July. Everyone played their parts very well, thus the successful outcome. The Secretary, Ladies Coordinator, Cultural Coordinator, and the Area Reps are congratulated for providing tickets and selling them. Special mention must go to Area Rep St Michael and Mrs Sangita Sunuwar for selling 89 tickets. We must also thank the food coordinator for providing refreshment on the evening. Our thanks go to Advisor Umesh Kumar Pun MVO, the Treasurer and Area Rep in New Town checking and selling tickets, and ensuring everyone had a ticket to enter.

At the same time, we congratulated Miss Deeya Pun, actress, adventurer and mountaineer who successfully climbed Mount Everest at 05:00 hours on Friday, 27 May 2022.

Deeya is a registered nurse working as bank staff in Colchester General Hospital. She has dedicated her expedition to the three charities as follows:

NHS Charities together

Colchester and Ipswich Hospital Charity

Children and Youth First (CYF) Nepal.

She has paid the cost of her Everest Expedition from her savings.

She has already climbed Mt. Aconcagua (6,961m, the highest mountain in South America). Mt. Manaslu (8,163m, 8th highest mountain in the world) for personal interest; now, she has conquered Mount Everest to help NHS staff and children in Nepal.

The Chairman of Colchester Nepalese Society has organized collecting Funds through Colchester Nepalese Society's social media site for her Charities from 19 April 2022 and ended on 1 July. We managed to collect £2046, which will be divided among the three charities.

Deeya Pun is a daring, softly spoken, remarkably fit adventurer, talented actress and mountaineer. We knew that she would scale Mount Everest, and she did it and returned safe and well. Three Cheers to Deeya Pun and also three cheers to her parents, who gave birth to such a formidable mountaineer and excellently talented actress.

She has also sent a message from Mount Everest that Gurkhas must receive equal pensions, which is their legitimate expectation.

Deeya Pun thanked everyone for collecting funds on her behalf. She also shared her experience of climbing mountains; she intends to climb five more mountains on five continents in the future.
