Ladies and Gentlemen,

Nepali New Year 2076 was celebrated by those who were fortunate to have attended the event yesterday at Thomas Lord Audley School at Monk Wick Avenue in Colchester.

Preparation began in earnest with a Nepal New Year coordinating meeting on Saturday 10 March followed by the Secretary (Dilip Mohora) producing tickets and Media Coordinator (Kumar Shrestha) printing them.

It were the Area Reps (Bhel Birkata, Arjun Rai, Sangita Sunuwar, Amar Limbu, Mina Gauchan, Bishu Sherchan, Arjun Sunuwar, Yashoda Shrestha, Jita Rai, Usha Gurung and Karna Bahadur Rana) who sold tickets to members. At the same time the Beverages Coordinator (Kul Prasad Limbu) was buying drinks in bulk and Food Coordinator selecting restaurants for food,

Similarly the Ladies Coordinator has donated large Nepalese Flag and the Secretary producing Raffle Draw tickets, collecting prizes for the Raffle Draw, designing and producing certificates to the Comedian duo - a big thank you to the Secretary, Media Coordinator, Area Reps, Beverages Coordinator, Food Coordinators, and Ladies Coordinator for their excellent contribution and well done.

On Saturday afternoon it began with setting up the hall, decoration, preparation of drinks area and food area at 2pm, with good coordination and collaboration of everyone involved we have completed by 3.30pm earlier then we expected.

Ladies Coordinator

Secretary - without their sheer and dogged hard work we wouldn’t have achieved it. Well done everyone.

They have decorated the hall so well and I am chuffed to bits. I must also thank the Vice Chair for lending his Panas x 2 for the evening.

The actual programme began just after 5pm with the announcing by the Master of ceremony (MC) Asst Ladies Coordinator (Sanu Subba), setting up of Raffle Draw by the Secretary. I must give credit to the MC for her prowess in announcing and the way the whole programme was run. I must thank Sanu Subba for her professionalism and excellent way of her delivery. Very well done to the MC and secretary.

Music began to be heard from the speakers arranged by Culture Coordinators and the true sense of party began.

The Beverages Coordinator (Kul Prasad Limbu), his son and daughter began serving drinks to the members and the Food Coordinator began serving starter to everyone. My thanks must go to Food Coordinator, Beverages Coordinator and Yak and Yeti restaurant for all their hard work and commitment.

The MC began the programme by introducing the Chair and Chief guest (the most senior person present in the evening Dharma Prasad Limbu) and they were requested to lit the candle and the programme officially started.

She then announced names of Executives and asked them to take their seats where ever they were either welcoming everyone or involved elsewhere.

She then made welcome to Comedian duo Daman Adhikari and Joginder Panwala - A khada each and bouquet of flowers were presented by the Chair. I must thank the Ladies Coordinators for making this happen by welcoming them at the airport and administering them throughout - well done.

The Secretary and Ladies Coordinators asked Mrs Maya Limbu, Mrs Yashoda Shrestha, Mrs Basanti Bardewa and Mrs Bishu Sherchan to sell Raffle tickets. The Secretary and the Ladies made a healthy profit and well done to all involved.

Mrs Mina Pun and Mrs Usha Gurung began collecting money among the members for the comedian duo as a token of love from CNS which was orchestrated by Mrs Sanu Subba and Mrs Kamala Khatri.

The MC then handed over to Cultural Coordinators (Mitra Gurung and Rita Magar) to run cultural programme. The Cultural Coordinators asked Dipen Mohora to act as last minute.com DJ which he has carried out to the best of his ability.

The cultural programme began by the Cultural Coordinators with our own cultural dances and it was a coincidence that we were fortunate to have Comedian Duo Daman Adhikari and Joginder Panwala to entertain us

The cultural programme were so attractive, full of enjoyment and their talents were outstanding, the performance by the comedian duo were equally exceptional and they made us laughing. I have been gobsmacked by their professionalism. My thanks go to everyone involved and well done to both Cultural Coordinators (Mitra Guurng and Rita Magar) for organising a very good cultural programme. A big thank you to those children and young ladies and Asst Treasurer (Laxman Gurung) for their exceptional talents.

The Food Coordinator then served main meal to members, the food were tasty and enjoyed by the members and my thanks go to the Food Coordinators and Yak and Yeti restaurant - well done.

The Secretary announced the names of newly joined members and the Chair made them welcome by offering a khada each.

Once serving the food to Members was completed the MC once again attracted the audience with her attractive voice and excellent announcing technique and asked the comedian duo to perform and the stage was live again.

The MC than asked the Secretary to conduct Raffle Draw. The Draw took place in earnest and I must thank those people who have won the prizes and equally I must thank the sponsors (Mrs Chair for donating 6th prize, Mr and Mrs Kumar Shrestha for donating 1st prize prize and Roger and Jenny Wille for donating 13th, 14th and 15th prizes and Rupa Pun for the 12th prize. I must thank them for being so generous to CNS for presenting such attractive prizes and their love of CNS. I personally like to thank Mrs Mina Pun and Mrs Usha Gurung for their excellent way of collecting funds which fetched almost £575 and we have divided the amount into two and presented as token of love from CNS to the comedian duo at the end of the programme.

The Cultural Coordinator made welcome to everyone to the stage for cocktail dance and to entertain everyone.

Midnight came upon us and we celebrated Nepal New Year 2076 with everyone by opening Champagne bottles by the Chair and Secretary. It was a true celebration and everyone were given Champagne to drink in order to celebrate Nepal New Year 2076.

It was already too late and we began dismantling decorations, collecting table clothes, vases, flowers for future use.

We then handed over the caretaker to clean the hall and left Thomas Lord Audley School by just after 45 minutes passed mid night.

Once again I must thank those people who turned up to celebrate Nepal New Year without their presence it would not have been such a success - Well done.

My heartfelt thanks go to everyone who’ve either directly or indirectly involved in making sure we celebrate Nepal New Year 2076 in style for which I am so grateful to you all.

Well done
