Dear Members,

Mr Colin Bennett and Valerie Shakily, both Trustees of “Tudwick Foundation,” visited Colchester Nepal Class run by Sarah Knee, Mrs Kamala Bhandari and Anthony Knee at 11:30 hours on Saturday, 23 April at Musket Club.

The Trustees were welcomed by the Chairman of Colchester Nepali Society and then introduced to the teachers and parents.

Before they mingled with the children, the Chairman attracted the attention of everyone; He spoke about the Nepali class run by Sarah Knee, Mandy Gurung, Kamala Bhandari and Anthony Knee for the last ten years. Running a Nepali class by volunteers for a decade has been unheard of. He thanked them for their dedication, commitment, and selfless devotion to Nepali children. The parents were equally grateful for teaching their children the Nepali language.

He then spoke about the Tudwick Foundation; without their kind consideration and gift of £1,000, we could not go anywhere. The donation has been received by the Colchester Nepali Society and transferred to the Nepali literacy class in 2020. But due to covid, we were unable to do anything until now. Finally, the Trustees of Tudwick Foundation have managed to visit us today. They have seen children and parents working together, and the IPads they have donated (three) have been used in full swing by the children. I have requested both the Trustees whether they can consider once again donating another £1,000 to make it one Ipad on each table. There are six tables, and there are only three IPads available, so there is a requirement to have three more IPads; I am sure that the Trustees have acknowledged it. I sincerely hope that they will consider our requirement and allocate a further £1,000 shortly so that we will have IPads on each table.

Finally, Colin Bennet, one of the Trustees, handed over the IPads to Chairman Colchester Nepali Society.

Finally, we took a group photograph. The Chairman thanked both Trustees Colin Bennett and Valerie Shakily for their time and visiting the Nepali class run by Sarah Knee, Kamala Bhandari and Anthony Knee.

Well done, Sarah Knee, Kamala Bhandari and Anthony Knee, parents and finally, the children, for their energy in learning and making colossal progress in learning their language. I will request parents send their children (from six to fifteen years old) to join the Nepali literacy class every Saturday unless there is a public holiday from 10:00 to 12:00 hours. Sarah Knee, Kamala Bhandari and Anthony Knee will be delighted to welcome them to their Nepali literacy class.

I must say three CHEERS to Sarah Knee, Mandy Gurung, Kamala Bhandari and Anthony Knee for running the Nepali literacy class for a decade.

And also, my thanks go to the parents for sending their children to the Nepali literacy class.

Well done.
