Dear Members,
The CNS Executive Committee paid a courtesy and welcome visit to Mrs Sukmaya Thakali (wife of Mr Mukti Bahadur Thakali) on Sunday, 29 March 2026, at 4:30 pm, to warmly welcome her back to Colchester following her return from Nepal.
Mrs Thakali had travelled to Nepal to attend the funeral rites of her late father, Purna Bahadur Jwarchan, who passed away at the age of 85. She fulfilled her filial duties by participating in the final rituals in accordance with Thakali tradition.
The CNS representatives present during the visit included the Chair, Vice Chair, Area Representative for Highwoods (Usha), Area Representative for Greenstead (Sotan), and Advisor Umesh.
Upon arrival, Mrs Thakali graciously welcomed the team and offered tea, snacks, and refreshments.
The Chair expressed heartfelt condolences and reflected on the life of the late Purna Bahadur Jwarchan. While 85 years may still feel too soon for loved ones, it is also a life lived with dignity and fulfilment. The Chair shared thoughtful words about the inevitability of life’s journey, reminding us that while we all wish for our parents to live long, mortality is a truth we must accept. He emphasised the importance of strength, acceptance, and continuing to live with purpose for the sake of our families and future generations.
Following these words, the Chair invited Vice Chair Kamala to place a Rupa around Mrs Thakali’s neck, a symbolic gesture rooted in cultural tradition to help restore peace and bring back any unsettled spirit affected by bereavement. The Area Representative for Highwoods presented flowers and a condolence card as a mark of respect and solidarity.
The CNS Executive members extended their sincere sympathies to both Mrs Thakali and Mr Thakali, offering reassurance and support during this difficult time. They acknowledged that loss is a universal experience and encouraged resilience as we continue to live meaningfully for our loved ones.
The visit concluded with thanks and well wishes before departing from 158 Forest Road.
