‘’Post Intergenerational Integration, Inter Community Integration and annual BBQ’’

Dear all,

We have only managed to achieve the subject above to 40% yesterday despite having such an excellent time at the BBQ. The 40% was calculated through the number of people attending the BBQ as 60% of our members and their children were away attending their own events therefore our aim of achieving 100% was somewhat became only a dream.

Despite lack of attendance, the annual BBQ was run by the committee members and our die hard supporters to an outstanding conclusion and I must pay tribute to everyone of them for their diligence, commitment, dedication, imagination and excellent team work.

The team are as shown below during set up:

I must thank the Secretary in designing and distributing BBQ Tickets, asking for strengths from Area Reps and preparing final strength to the Food Coordinator, sending invitations cards, closely monitoring and preparing the final list of guests.

My thanks also goes to the Area Reps for Selling BBQ tickets, monitoring and submitting final strength to the Secretary.

Property Coordinator - Damar Limbu and Singha Bahadur Limbu started collection of Marquee, tents, tables, pots and pans and erecting at Berrifield Lawn assisted by Santosh Rana to deliver the stores and the following people assisted them to pitch marquee, tents, collecting chairs and 1/2 oil drums, BBQ grills from CNS office and they were:

Food Coordinators - Rubin Gurung and Hari Malla through their excellent organisational skills with (150% efforts) organised very tasty starter, an amazing BBQ and very tasty messing in the evening and it was well and truly amazing.

BBQ stands - My range staff Sgt Peter Chamberlain and my Site Manager Paul Tabbitt and my friend Malcolm Cansdale and his welder friend have made such an excellent 1/2 oil drums and collapsible BBQ stands, we have divided them into two 1/2 oil drums and 2 sets of BBQ stands to each of the areas and one set will remain with Gurkha Home so that they can look after well and we don’t have to make them again.

The costs of making BBQ stands are as follows:

9 Metal rod, knots and bolts - £50

36 metal square pipes - £50

Welding work 36 metal pipes - £50

The Treasurer is asked to make a cheque payable to Malcolm Cansdale as soon as possible. Receipt will be handed over in due course.

BBQ - Santosh Rana for marinating and delivering BBQ an excellent efforts.

Drinks - Kumar Rai and Krishna Sunuwar for their excellent organisational skills for providing such cold drinks to quench the thirsts of every individuals.

Starter in the afternoon and Messing in the evening - Through Rubin Gurung and his exceptional skills of selection of types of food, Chitraraj and Jog Kumari Limbu from The Quayside Bar and Gurkha Restaurant have provided excellent food and food was simply outstanding.

PA system and Entertainment - Tarachand Gurung assisted by Om Kumar Gurung and Bhim Limbu provided excellent entertainment (including football competition, Ladies and gents thelo competition, ladies and gents tug of war completion) for everyone and winners were presented with suitable prizes by Mrs Chair.

Tombola - Om Kumar Gurung, Mitra Gurung and Mandy Gurung for running the tombola to entertain everyone. Winners were presented with their winning cash by Mrs Chair. The amazing thing was that all three members of the same family won the line and they were Mrs Om Kumar Gurung, his daughter and son. It never happened before.

Music - Mitra Gurung for organising songs and entertaining us until the end.

Firstsite and Berrifield Lawn - We must thank the CEO of Firstsite for allowing us to use Berrifield Lawn and it was well and truly top class facility and easy access for everyone.

Attendance of the members - I must thank the general members for their turn up and without their attendance it could not have been as entertaining as it has been and well done to every one of them.

Guests - You have also looked after our guests so well and they have all enjoyed tremendously, we must all be very proud of our generosity and will maintain good relations with everyone who we have to deal in due course.

What an amazing team efforts and I certainly enjoyed working with your good selves and once again I like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being such an excellent and amazing team.
