On Saturday, March 15th, the Colchester Nepalese Society (CNS) organised an unforgettable evening of Sangitik Sanjh at the Britannia Gurkha Restaurant and Bar. This was made possible through the generous support of Captain Umesh Kumar Pun MVO and his partners.

The evening, carefully planned weeks in advance, was set to be a night full of music, community, and cultural celebration.

The day began with Sunita Limbu Thebe arriving at the venue, accompanied by her husband, Major Kajiman Limbu MC. They were warmly greeted by Major Udaibahadur Gurung MBE, the Chair/Trustee of the CNS. As the preparations began, Nainasing arrived to set up the PA system, ensuring everything was in place for the evening's program. Captain Umesh had already placed the Colchester Nepalese Society banner on the wall, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all attendees.

As the clock struck 7:20 pm, the program kicked off with Sunita's beautiful rendition of Aani Choying Dolma a song that immediately captivated the audience. The melodious tune was so enchanting that it touched the hearts of everyone present, setting the tone for a magical evening ahead.

Sunita continued with a mix of songs, including an Indian piece and several of her own, showcasing her versatility and deep connection to her music.

A special highlight of the evening came when Sunita performed a duet with veteran singer Om Kumar Gurung. Their harmonious collaboration and Sudip Aryal's impressive voice made for a memorable performance. Sudip, who was selected to represent Colchester UK in the Nepalese Reality Show “Mero Voice Universe” in Nepal in April 2025, shone alongside Sunita and Om Kumar, bringing extra excitement to the event.

At the request of the Chair, Sunita also performed the song Dherai Choti Aankha Judhyo, a request that was met with great appreciation from the audience. The evening continued with Sunita expressing her gratitude to the CNS for the opportunity to perform for the members once again. A gesture of appreciation followed her heartfelt words as she presented khadas (traditional scarves) to key individuals who helped make the evening a success.

Sunita presented khadas to the Chair, the Vice Chair, the Ladies Coordinator for her dedication and organizing skills, Nainasing for setting up the PA system, Khagendra Hamal for coordinating the photography and videography, Om Kumar Gurung and Sudip Aryal for their outstanding performances, and Captain Umesh Kumar Pun, Captain Man Bahadur Pun, and Dan Bahadur Pun for providing the wonderful venue. She also acknowledged Ravi and Usha Kachhaapti, who traveled all the way from California to attend the event as part of the supportive audience.

In his closing remarks, Major Udaibahadur Gurung, the Chair, thanked Sunita Limbu Thebe for making the journey from Tidworth to entertain the Colchester Nepalese Society members. He also expressed gratitude to Major Kajiman Limbu MC, the Vice Chair, the Ladies' Coordinator, Nainasing, Khagendra, Om Kumar, Sudip, and the entire team that worked behind the scenes. Most importantly, he thanked the audience, whose presence and enthusiasm played a crucial role in the event's success.

The evening was a heartwarming celebration of music, culture, and community, leaving all who attended with lasting memories of an exceptional performance. The Colchester Nepalese Society's Sangitik Sanjh with Sunita Limbu Thebe will be remembered as a beautiful evening of shared joy and togetherness.

Well done to everyone involved in making this evening a resounding success!
