“Spectacular Guy Fawkes Night at King Coele Kitten's Fireworks Display”

On Tuesday, 5 November, tens of thousands of spectators gathered at Lower Castle Park for the annual King Coele Kitten's Fireworks Display, a beloved tradition on Guy Fawkes Night. Jacqueline Bowis, who has been tirelessly organizing this event for several years, once again ensured an unforgettable evening, with months of careful preparation leading to a seamless celebration.
To manage the large crowd safely, the Castle Gate entrance was organized with support from the CDCN, who coordinated entry procedures to prevent congestion and ensure the safety of attendees. Led by CDCN Chair and Trustee, Udaibahadur Gurung MBE, a dedicated team of volunteers, including Surya Bahadur Gurung, Jas Kiumari Gurung, Dam Bahadur Pun, and his son Eric Pun, Hari Malla, Nirmala Malla, Raj Tamang, Rajesh Rai, Limbu, Chernet Terefce, Gemechu Dugo, Brian Zerrua, Cephas Mbaha, Mamoom Ahmed, Alm Mashidam Safedin, Kaizeer Kamaizemi Kahiko and Busiswa Madikazi, were on site by 4:55 pm. The gate opened promptly at 5:40 pm, allowing the crowd to enter and prepare for the evening's excitement.
Zed Security Ltd. team members conducted bag checks to ensure everyone's safety. At precisely 7:30 pm, the fireworks display began, filling the sky with dazzling lights and vibrant colours that captivated the crowd until its conclusion at 8:00 pm.
As the event came to a close, the organisers bid farewell to the attendees at Castle Park's entrance, expressing gratitude and anticipation for next year's celebration. This year's King Coele Kitten's Fireworks Display was a memorable and joyous occasion for all, thanks to meticulous planning and community cooperation.
