On Saturday, 7 December 2024, the CNS Executive members visited Mrs. Aruna Ghale at her residence following her return from Nepal, where she had been to complete the final rituals for her late husband, Damar. In early spring, doctors had informed Aruna that her husband’s battle with terminal cancer was nearing its end, prompting her to travel to Nepal in June to allow Damar to meet his family. Unfortunately, Damar passed away on 27 July 2024 after spending his final days with his parents, siblings, and relatives in Nepal.
After completing the necessary final rituals in Nepal, Aruna recently returned to Colchester. In a show of solidarity and support, I, as Chair, reassured her that the CNS was there for her and that she could rely on us for any assistance she may need. I reminded her that life can bring unimaginable challenges, but it must continue, and we are here to walk alongside her during this difficult time.
As part of the visit, the Ladies' Coordinator placed a RUPA (a sacred thread) around her neck, intended to bring peace and comfort to her lost soul. The Vice Chair presented a condolence card, and Advisor Umesh handed over £1670, collected from CNS members to support the grieving family, as is customary in our community.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dipen Mohora, the Area Representative for Gurdon Road, for organising this meaningful visit. I am also grateful to the Vice Chair, Treasurer, Ladies Coordinator, Cultural Coordinator, and Advisor, Umesh, for their time and presence during this emotional visit. Their support meant a great deal to Mrs. Ghale in her darkest hours.
It was a worthwhile and heartfelt visit, and we must continue to organise such visits in the future to provide comfort and solidarity to those in need within our community. After spending an hour with Aruna, we were offered refreshments before departing.
Let us remain united in our efforts to support each other during difficult times.
